Meet Our Makers

Wellington is proud to call itself a town of makers – a place with a long history of craftsmanship and creativity, and home to a host of modern-day makers offering a welcome antidote to all things mediocre and mass-produced. Our new mural trail celebrates makers from the town’s past, our Makers’ Directory shines a light on sixty businesses making in Wellington today, and our Makers’ Trail booklet launched in June 2018 combines both. You can collect your free copy at Wellington Library, Ken Francis Butchers and a venues around the town, or download a PDF version here.

All around the town you’ll find people from Wellington’s past peering out at you through a series of twelve painted windows. Find out who they are and what they made on our Makers’ Dozen Mural Trail!

Who’s making what in Wellington today? Butchers and brewers, cake-bakers and carriage-builders, they’re all here in our directory.

Find out about some of Wellington’s historic makers and the things they made – from medieval craftsmen to Victorian manufacturers.
